Congrats to the kids for choosing that target. However, as is expected, we tend to blame the victims, and in this case, I think the police officer should not have posted this to his facebook. Nothing was illegal so the secret service is just wasting our tax dollars, but this is a good lesson to everyone regarding what they are willing to share with the world online. Use those privacy settings and use your head. It should be expected that symbolically shooting a current president will draw attention.

Would it have been more tolerable, permissible, or acceptable if he were hung or burned in effigy? Seems like a freedom of expression issue. So long as no laws were broken... Facebook just facilitates a broader audience...

Tim Thomas decided not to attend the white house gathering for the Bruins. That was his way of expressing himself with regards to this current president.. I have a picture with some bullet holes in it. Expression comes in forms that will excite, empower, and enrage... Don't allow that to be taken away... It is sacred...

Wait til Jan 2013 when we install our own dictator; try this then and these kids will disappear---unless of course if they are moslems (then it is a just a joke) or if they are "undocumented workers' children (then they will be given scholarships to the government universities).

We had a guy up the road investigated by the Service for some controversial sign in his yard about killing Obama. The Secret Service has always, and will always, respond to threats to the president very seriously. It's one of the very few things, along with the "fire in the movie theater" bit, that aren't protected by the First Amendment.
