Yes because it's Nassau/Suffolk County not NYC. Just make sure your locked up and unloaded and get thru NYC quick!
You didn't say whether you had a "no restictions" license or not, if not it is most of the time "to and from the range"! If this is the case, I wouldn't bring your gun.
Soooooo, you wouldn't recommend going to THE RANGE with the permit that allows you to go TO THE RANGE? hmmm.
i have full carry in NYS
First off, that is a very long drive from Putnum Co just to go to the range!
And if he had a restricted license, he couldn't stop to visit anyone on the way, or stay overnight, except to stop for gas!
On the Island, he would also have to abide by the conditions on his license from Putnum Co, or face a suspension/revocation.
Ok, your good to go! Makes all the difference in the world!
