i think any law abiding adult should carry even teachers at schools and universities

I heard Mark Walters on Armed American radio last month and he got me to thinking, what if we were to arm the teachers who would like to be armed to protect the children they have enroled there.
The past few years we've seen a increase in the amount of killings at schools were there is no protection at all. How meny of you take your children to school and go to there school to collect them during schools hours and there is no protection, after you sign in at the office and get your hall pass, you can rome about the school unmolested. This I feel leaves a really big area this any possibilty to do anything you want. The metal dectors can be bypassed, a back door can be opened to allow someone with in without anyone knowing about it.
I know a lot of you think "this wouldn't happen at my childs school" but I bet a lot of the parents of the schools of the past few months would have said the very same thing.
Train the teachers and admistrative staff who want to protect there students just like a policeman is trained, you eather take the course and pass or you don't pass the course and don't carry a gun.
Do you fell a little bit safer when flying knowing there's an armed pilot and a US Air Marshal on the flight with you, or would you prefer to go back to Sept 11?
I had to think about this a lot before I sent this and after awhile I thought of my grandchildren and I sure wouldn't want to go to there funerals
if there was solution to the problem.
I plan to go to the next metting of the school board and submit this proposal and see how it's recieved.
Think about this idea and if there's some like thinking out there, think about going to your school board and ask them about this idea.

gun control is being able to hit your target
Thinking back to my own schooling, I can think of maybe 3 teachers I had, tops, who would have ever even consider carrying a gun (outside of a deer stand). The vast majority of them would throw a hissy fit if you even tried to get them to touch one. Where do you think all these young people became brainwashed liberals in the first place?

I agree with eagle. This is not a "teacher" thing, this is a 2A thing. You start with teachers--am I suppose to pay for the firearm and training? Am I suppose to give teachers some more "time off" for initial training and twice a month target shooting? Single out one group and in this asylum we call the US something will get screwed up royally.
If a teacher wants to be armed, they should allowed to, but it should not be a reqiurerment, and the teach should cover training and gun cost's
I am a veteran, I am a teacher, and I am a sheriff's reserve deputy. The most unsafe place I am in any given day is at the school. In my 13 years of being a teacher I've been privy to four school shootings and five student deaths as a result of them. As a sheriff's deputy I've been involved in no shootings. As a veteran I was involved in no shootings.
However, I'm stricken from being able to defend the children in my charge and myself in the most hostile area I've worked in.
I would wholeheartedly sign up for any and all training to be able to conceal carry in school, even though I shouldn't have to.

So melodramatic. Of course it's not a teacher thing, but in this case it is those of us who are teachers who are being denied our right to self-protection. No, keep your money and your precious time...I'm a veteran, gun owner, and well-trained...just let me carry the damned thing on campus.

Wow, you came up with a whole lot of assumptions there. Who said anything about giving the teachers time off or paying for their training? I teach and I go to the range every couple of weeks or so now on my own dime. So sign me up for whatever training would be necessary, let me do it (even if its on my own dime) and let me protect myself and the children I am charged with.
The problem is that the teachers have already been singled out and are NOT allowed to defend themselves. Get rid of the restriction that is unconstitutional.

I think the entire 6th or 7th grade school year should be nothing but firearm & Constitution training, 100% mandatory for all American children..at age 21, all non-criminals should be required to carry a firearm.
so yeah, I think it would be a great idea for teachers to carry :)
This will never be allowed. The bulk of teachers are liberal leaning. In most states it's not up to the school district, it would require a change to state law.
