Vegas Casino carry?

I have heard other people on forums talk about carrying in the casinos in Las Vegas. They said it was legal as long as it wasn't posted. This is second hand knowledge obviously. I am really curious about the registration as well. I have a Vegas trip in Dec and if anyone actually gets answers to these questions please post them.

Starting 1/1/08 it gives a 60 day period before needing to register with Clark County if you are visiting or becoming a resident. A 72 hour period is in effect for purchase, transfer, gift etc.

At least I believe that is how it reads.

Darn! Raybsc: That was my whole intent! Nothing like hitting the big one and being able to blast a few celebratory rounds into the ceiling! I'm sure they would understand, wouldn't they?
Seriously though, I know some states won't let you enter an establishment that serves alcohol at all, in some cases even for consumption later, such as a gas station with a mini mart, you can't even go into the building to pay for gas, because they sell six packs of beer! I know in Arizona, you cannot go into a restuarant that serves ANY alcohol, while in California, you can be in a restuarant that serves, providing that less than 40% of their business is alcohol related, and that YOU are not partaking. If Nevada has a law of no establishment that serves ANY alcohol, then of course we can't carry in there. On my next visit I will stop at the sheriff's office to check on registration requirements, and I will ask all these questions.

IIRC, as of this time, no. I don't believe NV has entered into reciprocity with any state, and Utah may not happen since they do not require live fire training. Sucks, because I have a UT non-res permit too. Your best bet is to acquire a NV non-res permit while you're there.

Nevada now recognizes 8 states. I have just renewed my Nevada Non-Res permit and the Storey County folks said it would take a couple of months because of the FBI backround checks.

My Utah will cover me until it arrives. BTW, the new Nevada Non-Res permit is good for 5 years.

Beginning Oct. 1, the state of Nevada will recognize permits from eight other states that allow people to carry concealed weapons, the Nevada Department of Public Safety announced.

Those states are Alaska, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee and Utah.

The 2007 Nevada Legislature passed a law that allowed concealed carry permits from other states to be used in Nevada. The Department of Public Safety, with the help of the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association, reviewed the laws from other states. It found 16 other states that had an electronic database accessible 24 hours a day that identifies valid permit holders. Of those 16, only eight had concealed carry permit laws that were as stringent or more stringent than Nevada, the Department of Public Safety said.

It will review the list of approved states every year, the Department of Public Safety said.

The better and more up to date our information here is the better our credibility is.
I have renewed 3 permits his year. My Pa. just got sent off this AM. My wife now has 2 permits with a Utah on the way.

NRS 202.3673 states where in Nevada you can not legally carry concealed.

Basically, it's government buildings, airports and on school property.

Also, since NRS 202.3673 also states this as a prohibited location:

"A public building that has a metal detector at each entrance or a sign posted at each public entrance indicating no firearms are allowed in the building."

Some people believe it applies to all buildings open to the public. But, that belief is wrong, since as defined in NRS 202.3673 "public building" means government building.

That said, if you do approach a building with metal detectors or sign prohibiting weapons/firearms, it's an indication that they do not allow conceal carry and you will be asked to leave the premises if they catch you carrying.

Remember all business/private property can ask you to leave their property for any reason. If you do not comply, you can be arrested for tresspassing.

So, yes, you can carry concealed inside a casino. Just don't get caught or expose your handgun and scare the sheeple.

On 10-01-2007, SB92 went into effect and changed NRS 244.364.

As amended by SB92, NRS 244.364 changes Clark County Code 12.04.110 & 12.04.200.

The change makes it so that non-residents of Clark County have to register their handguns only if they are staying more than 60 days in Clark County and residents of Clark County will have up to 72 hours to register their handguns.

This change goes into effect on 01-01-2008.

So, until 01-01-2008, Clark County Code 12.04.110 & 12.04.200 requires all persons in Clark County to register their handguns within 24 hours.

Currently, if you are caught possessing unregistered handguns in Clark County, (depending on your demeanor & the disposition of the LEO contacting you) you will either be taken to a substation, have your handguns registered & given a warning or you will be placed under arrest & have your handguns confiscated.

So, as a non-resident of Clark County, if you intend to legally carry conceal in Clark County before 01-01-2008, be safe and register your handguns with LVMPD. Takes less than 5-10 minutes and can be done at any LVMPD substation.
