Some rifles use clips to fill a non-removable magazine. The M1 is an example.

The Garand just happens to work where you insert the clip (holding the ammunition) into the magazine where it stays there until the last round is fired but it still has a magazine. Yes there are also stripper clips. There are many military rifles that use stripper clips to load magazines whether they be fixed internal magazines or detachable magazines. A clip is used to load a magazine or cylinder on a revolver. But that's not the context of the post. Last time I checked a SIG doesn't use a clip, neither does any other semi-auto handgun.
