Red face G23

Luke or any others who own one, I am considering a G23 to add to my collection and use as one of my carry pieces, what are your personal thoughts on recoil, etc.. compared to the G19 or other like handguns. I dont own any .40s , every expert in the world has an opinion but I believe most get their info from blogs not real experience. Anyway ..... personal thoughts on the Glock23. Thanks guys.

I like the G23. It's my preferred carry pistol, and my primary to the G27. The .40 S&W caliber is much snappier than the 9mm. I've fired the G19, G21 and G22 side by side. The G19 had the smallest recoil, G21 (.45 ACP) slightly heavier recoil, and the G22 had the snappiest recoil.

My recommendation would be to shoot one before you purchase. I got an excellent deal on a consignment G27 because some guy bought it, shot it, couldn't handle the recoil, so it was sold for $100 less than a new one, and on top of that he was out the consignment fee.

I got me a G23..got a GOOD DEAL on it I think...it has only had 20 rounds pushed thru it and I got it for $300..and it is not stolen!

I have not shot this gun yet. I have mixed feelings abt shooting it. If I shoot it, then good chance that I will really like this gun and decide to keep it. If I dont shoot it, and it still being a fairly new gun, I could resell it and get me another 45...so for now, it sits in the safe..I do not have a manual for it tho so I need to score one..anyway, I have a Glock 23, kewl eh?

I also have a G23.. but because of my disability I carry a G19 becaus the recoil is lighter on the 9mm compared to the .40 ..........I also have a few more, my G22 with a comp. barrel, and Springco recoil
reduction system is sweet to shoot. low low recoil....but the G22 size make concelment hard............

check out the recoil system at TopGlock.com if recoil is a problem, Springco makes the system for most Glocks..................

I have both a 23 and a 27. I carried the 23 for about three years before I switched to the 27. I use a small of the back holster and the 23 was jabbing me in the spine. The 27 works great for concealment. As far a recoil it is obviously more than a 9mm but it is not a big deal. I have several .40 cal pistols and I love every one.

I usually carry my G23. The recoil on any .40 will be somewhat snappy. There is really nothing you can do about that. The key is practice. If you buy a G23 you will NOT be disappointed at all. It is a great gun, just practice.

I purchased one about two months ago and love the thing. No complaints. Now I just need my darn IWB holster!

I've had my 23 for about 13 years now and have loved it since day one. As noted above, it's a little bulky for small of the back carry.

For me, the .40 is the perfect caliber and the 23 just fits my hand better than most pistols I've tried.

But again, it's all personal preference.

I've had my G23 for 5 years and use it as my primary CC. I love it and have never had an issue. It's recoil is more than a 9mm, but not that bad.
