I took my G30 out to the range today. Is it because it is my first time shooting a Glock? ...

Most new Glock shooters shoot low and to the left until they get used to the trigger. Especially if they are used to shooting revolvers. Pay attention to where your finger sits on the trigger and squeeze straight back. Try not to milk the grip (squeezing with your whole hand) in anticipation of the recoil.
Hope this helps.

I should have went with the night sites... Not because I care about shooting in the dark, but because I liked the dots better then the U shaped rear site.....

Probably not. You can also try dry fire practice by removing the magazine, checking that the chamber is clear, removing all ammunition from the room, checking the chamber AGAIN, the balancing a nickel on top of the front sight and practicing trigger pull. that's how I was shown.

That worked for me.. I shot low and left until I practced using the nickel on top of the front sight... It really works if you keep at it...

Yes stock glock sights suck. The rear sight is plastic and may be high or low. Still should shoot to point of aim.

I like the night sights on my Glocks. Practice "trigger reset". Most veteran shooters have a difficult time at first, but once they master the "trigger reset", everthing works out great. The beginning shooters OTOH usually have no problem hitting 8.5 x 11 paper on the first try.
