| I'm still looking, still researching, for my first firearms purchase. I really like the feel of the G22 40 cal. I have tried some of the smaller pistols from Glock and it feels like they are just not large enough for me. My question is this. I plan on getting my concealed carry permit, how many, if any, carry a Glock G22 concealed and if so in what holster. Oh I know there are many many brands and options out there, but I like the looks and feel of a full size pistol, but I will want to carry it at some point after completion of all the safety and concealed carry courses I plan on taking. Glock owners chime in. Will I be happy trying to wear a G22 on my hip? Shout I go smaller, maybe a 9mm, maybe a smaller framed sub or sub compact weapon? Once through the holidays I will be making my purchase so any and all help, recommendations, and comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your replies. |

Ultimately, only YOU can decide if you'll be "happy". Keep in mind that the G17 (9mm), G22(.40s&w) and G30 (.357 sig) are all the same size. Only difference is the calibers. I have successfully concealed the G22, however it wasn't very comfortable. I'm approx. 5'7" and around 180lbs. I would strongly recommend going with a G23 for CC. I can carry the G23 several ways, to include IWB, SOB and OWB. I would suggest getting your hands on a "blue gun" of the G22 or G17 and carry it around for a bit to see how you like it. This would be the best way to figure out if you'll be comfortable carrying around the G22. The weight will be a little different, but the size will be accurate. Let me know if you need any more info. gf

| I am extremely happy with the Glock. I have a G23 in .40S&W and it is a nice weapon and I can conceal it easily. On the other hand a G22 is considered a service size pistol and not as easy to conceal. It does make an excellent service weapon though. I carry the G27 in .40S&W as my daily CCW, usually in a Galco Stealth ankle holster. It hides nicely under my work slacks and is light enough that it doesn't affect my gate. I also incorporate the "belly band" system when I am wearing jeans or sweats... my G27 fits it well and so does the G23. In ending, I agree with GF, choose whatever best suits your needs and whatever feels best. I am sure you will be happy with whatever choice you make.

| I too own a G22 and it is my primary carry weapon. In the summer I carry it IWB, usually under an untucked shirt. In the winter, I carry OWB in this: Quartermaster ? Police Equipment, Security Uniforms, Military Supplies

| I had the G22 as my duty weapon in security and now I carry the G23 and when I go for my ccw I will carry my G23 in a couple of different ways depending on my dress I like the G22 because of its ability to fulfill the role of a duty/service weapon, but as a conceal carry I myself would not want to carry it in a CCW role and I'm 5'10" and 240lbs, as others have said the best way to see if you'll be happy for yourself is to get a Blue Gun or Red Gun replica of the G17/G22 and carry that to see if you'll be happy without the full expense of the actual weapon and if your not happy then you have a good toy for a training piece and if your are happy then you can use the blue/red gun model to let friends or family that are considering conceal carry with that weapon see if they like it. |
