I would like to hear some recommendations on AK magazines. Any comments on the 40 round curved magazines and the 75 or 100 round drums as well?

Have you disassembled the magazines and checked the springs and the follower? The followers can often become damaged on AK surplus mags from the bolt slamming against them. I would check this first. Followers are inexpensive to replace.

I bought an MAK-90 sportster thumbhole stock back when the Clinton It's A Crime Bill was passed for about $280 in 1994. From what I have read the Chinese AK variants are better because they have a thicker receiver. I haven't fired it yet. I have about about 2000 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39mm ammo for it. Half JHPs, half FMJ. The rifle itself is in excellent shape. It's probably tripled to quadrupled in value since the Chinese AK variants are no longer obtainable.
My AK variant list to buy before the AWB is brought back for another decade;
- Another 7.62x39 with a factory folding stock probably an Arsenal.
- A 5.45x39mm AK variant. It appears that they are no longer obtainable from Arsenal.
- More 7.62x39mm AK 30 or 40 round AK magazines.
I have other items on my to obtain list that are not relevant to this thread.
