    "Situational awarness" is key in law enforcement and should be with civilian open carry as well. A good example;

    One tactic I was taught the first night I was on patrol; We were on night patrol and both decided to stop and get something to drink. As we got to the convenience store/gas station, my partner drove completely around the store and looked inside while doing it. He asked me "why do we drive around and look inside first deputy?" I thought for a second and logically answered, "So we don't walk into an armed robbery?" He said right! Then he asked me "who is the first person that guy is going to shoot when you walk into that store?" I said; "the guy carrying a gun and wearing a badge". His response was "exactly".

    I can see having a 9mm. However, for training purposes, I would want to shoot the caliber that I am going to carry. That's just me. Is the G23 going to be your CCW?

    I have just bought a G23. It is not as small as the 27, but fits my hand better. I have no problem in keeping it concealed. I also have a S2K with G22 mags so they complement each other.

    I don't know about the lead issue, other than the fact they tend to cause a buildup in the barrel. Before the prices went up last year I stocked up on the CCI Blazer Brass from Wally World & haven't had a problem w/ it. I never had a problem w/ jams, my Glock took just about anything, but my S&W HATED anything other than brass. But, I got it from my paramedic instructor, and he shot competition w/ it & had a buttload of work done to it, so it is a finiky beast. Love it, but it's just not a ccw piece d/t that fact. Don't trust my family's, or my life to a precision piece as that.

    Yeah, I just got my Glock 23 also. As you can see, i've already added a Hogue grip to it. Really feels nice. She's still unfired...but not for long.
    I plan on upgrading it with a Lone Wolf match grade barrel, an extended mag release, set of tritium night sights, and depending on how the trigger feels to me...I might also go to an 3.5 lb connector.
    Lookin' forward to gettin' it on the range.

    Not sure how this works. Here goes. Good evening! I am a new Glock owner (22 / .40) and am learning to carry. In my state we can put it out or in. There is no law except at schools, etc. Anyone else try to conceal a large frame Glock? Thanks. Tom

    I have a 36 that I find quite comfortable in a Forbes or High Noon strong side holster. I have tried the IWB append. carry and found it uncomfortable too say the least.

    How many use extended +1 mag bases. I use them for competion and range work but not for CCW.I have had the bottom plate come off and all ammo feel out. This has also happened on the range with other LEOs.This happeneds when mag is slamed in during fast reload .

    .45 Glock 21 owner, Hi to all.

    Just got all joined up and would like to say hello to all. I have a Glock G22 that I am licensed to carry. Only carry it in the BAD parts of Las Vegas. Otherwise I carry a Colt 380 Mustang, especially in the summer with not too many clothes on. Both are carried in IWB holsters.

    I just joined this group and I would like to say hello to everyone here.

    I carry my G27 IWB either in a Galco Scout (appendix carry) or in a M-TAC at 4 o'clock. Spare magazine is carried on my week side of course.

    I was carrying my G21 with a double mag pouch, I always wanted to be ready for whatever went down, but I tore a ligament in my left knee in April of this year and it seams that it just won't heal. The weight of the 21 along with 3 full mags was really making me limp badly half way through the day, so now I'm packing the 26 with just 1 spare mag. Seem to be working out better, but I liked the idea of carrying 40 rounds to the now 24.

    We've got the group, so what happens next?
