This is my first (and only, so far) deer....shot November, 2007 in West Tennessee. It's a 1-point "Unicorn" buck. Hopefully, there's more to...

The only thing I am remotely interested in game harvesting is feral boar. They're mean, ugly and will put up a fight and charge plus I have a likeThey're pests in the Ozarks along the AZ/MO stateline and can legally be hunted all year long in MO. You do need a hunting license to be legal during dear season in MO.

My firearm choices for boar game harvesting would be; S&W .44 magnum as my handgun back up to either a a Remington 7600 chambered in .30-06 or .308 Winchester or possibly a Marlin 1894 lever action in .44 special/magnum as the ammo would be interchangeable with the revolver or possibly an AR-15 chambered in the most effective round it can handle for boar.

12 or 20 ga. with No. 6 shot, or a .22LR. If you'll be in a fairly open area where longer shots are possible, the "varminter" rounds will work well.

I prefer a 12 ga. pump, 870, 500, or my current Benelli SuperNova.

How many here are going to be able to hunt the rut in your area?
I am planning on x-bow hunting the Ohio rut about the first weekend in November. I have always wanted to hunt the rut, but it was always during bow season and I never got into it until I picked up a crossbow.

For those who have never used a crossbow... do it! These things are seriously accurate to 40yds.

Haven't done much hunting, just got into archery about a year ago and went on the archery buck deer hunt this fall. Passed on a little one early in the hunt then didn't get close to anything but does after that. Fun anyway. I usually just cut up and cook whatever comes home.
