For all-around, post-Katrina, SHTF tactical versatility, you can't beat a good shotgun. Also excellent in case of zombies.

You can hit someone wearing a Level III vest with 00 through a door, and the next thing they know, they're at least going to be lying on the ground wondering what happened. They'll probably be dead or severely injured though. Those pellets will drill right through a winter coat like tissue paper - and even the coat doesn't cover everything.

Even ceramic plates will protect against penetration, but they won't stop internal damage from the blunt force trauma. If they have a preexisting condition or are already injured, the impact could possibly kill them. It's like a pipe bomb going off nearby.

Imagine being in their shoes - you're burglarizing a house at 2 AM, trying to be as quiet as possible. Suddenly you see a flash of light, feel a massive impact, and you're out cold before you hit the ground. Next thing you know, you wake up on the ground surrounded by paramedics and cops, lying in a pool of blood, with your entire body hurting. You were fortunate enough to take a 12 ga load of buckshot through a double-paned window, and no body parts were entirely severed by the flying glass, except for a few fingers.

As long as you put the pattern on them, a round of buckshot is Game Over in most situations.

Well this is made by surefire it takes the place of the stock pump grip. It has the flashlight holder on the grip with a pressure pad/rocker switch it looks so sick. The one i am getting is about 230 the LED one is 390. So i am going with that one as i am always upgrade the light on my own with a LED one.

Also, that nut on the end of the 590 mag tube is a bayonet lug.

You know...for all those times when you might use a bayonet.

    LukeM and all -
Have you been to Dr Ignatius Piazza's "Front Sight" defensive course? I'm looking for some feedback from someone who's been there.

L.M.- Do you take your 500 with you when you get up in the morning? Or what? I am constantly moving mine around day/night.....kind of exasperating, but maybe that's a small price to pay for FREEDOM !!!!!!!!!!!

I've updated some things today and now have the group forums fixed. You need a minimum of 5 members to start a forum for the group.
