Can one figure out anything from a serial number? Date of manufacture?

Is there anything else that can be learned from a serial number?

Was shooting my unaltered SR9 tonight at the range and had two incidents of the trigger remaining in the fired position. The gun fired, the slide came back, picked up the next round and chambered it. The trigger did not reset. Has anyone else had this issue?
The weapon was purchased back in the spring and has about 1K rounds through it with no problems. I like the orginal trigger so I had not sent it back for the retrofit.

    I unfortunately do not have any pics to post, but I have a P89 9mm, a P345 45ACP and a 10/22 rifle.

I love them all. Very well made firearms.

I have a P345 and am pretty sure the magazines are different. It seems I read one place they would work, but I don't want to try it. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. I have shorter than average fingers, so I'll need to find one to determine if it
might fit my hands. I'm keeping my eyes open!

Yes the P series are big guns, My p345 is much thiner than the older models but still large. The SR9 is also thin, but i would like to see a carry version of the SR9 to compete with the MP 9 compact... 3.5in 13 or so rounds 9x19. The LCP is probbobly great in some cases but for primary carry I want more and or larger ammo. But a 22 beats no gun when you need it!

I just found this group and joined it. It sounds like we need more members!

The first handgun I owned was a Ruger Blackhawk in .357 with a 9mm cylinder. I sold it and now wish I hadn't.

After several years of owning and shooting semi-autos I decided to go back to my roots and get a revolver for concealed
carry. My favorite caliber is .44 so I looked at a Ruger Alaskan. That is one Huge short barrelled gun! It's too big for me
to conceal. I ended up with a Charter .44 bulldog which I have already sent back to the factory for repair. It looks like
I'll have to send it back a second time because they didn't cure all the little gun's problems the first time.

I wish Ruger made a 5 shot .44 special double action revolver!

Has anyone with a SR9 recieved materals to send it in for the recall?? I have been waiting since Apr and not heard a word! I found after buying mine that it was a little big for my tasts so I am thinking about going to a gun show in mid Sept and traiding it in for something smaller.....
