Hey Guys! -just joined today. Pround owner of an XD40 Sub & XDm-40 both which have been worked over by Daniel @Powder River Precision. Now wanting to add more Springfield's to my assortment. Great shooting to all !!
Hey I've seen a couple of posting about PSU (Pheonix State University). I ordered that journeyman gunsmithing course which includes both a basic and master gunsmith course as well as the Journeyman course. It was $200, I figured even if it was a scam maybe it would have enough stuff in it that I would at least get my monies worth, you know, even if its not recognized by state or county or whatever. So I took the basic course sent in my exam, and thats been 3 weeks ago now. I've emailed them 3 times and received no word. Does anyone have any advice for me. I want to become a licensed Gunsmith, and have been working on guns for friends. Just mainly cleaning, sighting in and diagnosing small problems. P.S. Proud owner of a XD-40, and I love it, wouldn't trade for anything.
Slym82 -- I would be interested to hear what happens with them because I was looking at the same class & thought it looked pretty good. Let me know what happens & if you hear from them -- Thanks
I have heard of Phoenix University, an online college that won the naming rights to the new stadium for the Arizona Cardinals. but I have never heard it referred to as Phoenix State University. The only State University I am aware of is Arizona State, home of the Sun Devils. There are a couple of good gunsmithing correspondence courses I have heard of. I wish you luck.
I bought a Springfield Armory XD-45 to replace my aged Firestar M-45, and I spent many an hour reading up on various gunmakers and their models, narrowing down the field until the XD came out a clear winner. To reinforce my choice, I saw the posting of a torture test given to an off the shelf SA pistol that matches the test Glock has. That was the clincher. I bought a 4-inch barrel XD-45, and was very impressed with the case, which contained the pistol, a holster, cleaning kit, and much more The case had a sticker on it that it was not legal in California, which is fine with me. Anything not legal in California has to be fantastic. The reason of course, was the magazines. California is limited to 10-round mags, and these babies are stainless steel and hold 13 rounds each. I bought another mag, as the mag holder is off-balance with one. This is a truly beautiful piece of weaponry. Now I just need to find someone to buy the Firestar.
I have always been a Rugar Shooter, but after alot of research I just got my second Springfield a XDm 9mm 19+1 (WHAT A SHOOTER). My first Springfield was an old 45-70 trap door carbine my Dad pulled out of a hollow tree 75+ years ago and I inherited. I am going to add a picture to the group. Debray

I just go a XD .45 yesterday and I dont know what I have ever done without it. I love this gun.
Bought a XDm 9 yesterday. I had three guys try to buy it before I left the gun show. Two more people bought the XDm 40 when I bought mine. Looks like Springfield has another winner Great to find a group of XD owners. I'm looking forward to getting it out on the range next week.
i posted a pic of my XD 45 Tactical in the pic section. i love it. it is sometimes my primary carry pistol even though it is so big, but i am a big guy and like to know im holding a gun. just as reliable as any other gun i've seen and i think its head and shoulders above its glock competition.
