I went back in time to 1966 pay tables via AlGore's invention and discovered that an E7 today makes more $$$ than a Four-Star did back in 1966.

    Now there's a jaw-dropper maybe!

Veterans and Guns is pleased to have a new member join us today, devildog.
Hailing from some great scenic wonders I enjoyed during my 4 year stay at Fort Carson, Colorado. Colorado Springs and Manito are good places to live and party. CO is his home. I panned for gold in the Sangria De-Christos mountains and lived in a home about 2 miles down from NORAD inside Cheyenne Mtn, makes U feel real 'secure' there!!!!!!
He's a proud member of the Vietnam Dog Handler Assoc. Semper Fi! I have heard the VC were more scared of those wonderful canines than a Cobra attack, smell/sense 'em a mile out. Any truth to the Army tradition of awarding rank and medals to the dogs our scouts/LRRP's used during 'Nam? I do think the Army did a REAL crappy deal with the ones they left behind in 1972 when the U.S. forbade them return with handlers who had bonded more with their dogs than their chain of command. I have talked with many Vets about that and every-one of them who was a handler ended up cracking a tear. devildog likes to hunt, shoot and fish, he's another Glock owner (not biting my tongue I SWEAR!) but carrying a Glock 30 as his primary CCW and well associated with some fine organizations like the NRA Life Member (!), GOA and the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners.
I hope you find yourself a good bunch of fellow Veterans here to be-friend, it is my honor to welcome you on-board. Semper-Fi!

I was just at my local gunsmith's shop today to pickup a S&W model 37 chiefs special, and our conversation convoluted to the RUGER LCP. The gunny says he just got a recall notice just like the last RUGER problem. YOU DROP IT, IT CAN GO OFF!!--IF YOU HAVE ONE , CHECK IT OUT!!!!!

We have until Tuesday, 20 January 2009, (Inauguration Day) to stock-up! Obama looks like he will take it, but until he is sworn-in, he won't be making any laws, so this is the Christmas Santa's sleigh will be a C5A Galaxy full of enough weapons to equip a nation.
It may be the last time he delivers them for 4 years! But there will still be TONS of illegal guns for sale on most street corners in meth-hoods after dark with the serial #'s filed off, sure guns will cost much more, but only crooks will own 'em, or if U R a law abiding gun owning citizen with a crystal clean record, then as our new President shreds the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution and replaces it with the words: "Only the armed forces on active duty, law enforcement agencies and those deemed vital to the national security of this New World Order will bear arms or use them in defense of the nation governed by the elected president will be allowed to bear arms." Then U may become a felon just by owning one for any reason, that IMHO is when the SHTF in this nation. U S A Carry will probably be it's first target as gun stores close and cyber gun-related sites get blocked. Then the impoundments and round-ups and Neo-Waco's start!
"I swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America and to protect and defend this nation from all enemies, foreign AND domestic, so help me God!" Words I spoke to become a citizen of this great nation, and a fire that still drives my life.

Thank you very much for your hard work Sarge. BTW, I don't want to tell you that I bought the Glock ONLY because of the brandname and yes, well, I got a good deal on it. So I won't. It's a bit of a monster to try to store on my person so I'm really only doing CC about half the time, which I prefer not to.
I'm still looking for the right gun. Like, that LCP .380 is a fetching little bit o' honey!
Anyone else out there in The Land own a .32 Defender?
I heard on the news that gun sales are skyrocketing! Something about an election possibly going awry...? Gettem while you still can!

    Vermont Vet weighing anchor.
Ahoy, Vets and Guns welcomes upanchor,
He is the son of a Marine and AAF pilot (WWII). Retired USAF , beginning in 1966 - retired a year ago Oct 07. Hailing from Vermont, he is a USPS mail-carrier now who 'Hunts, fishes, sails, shoots, smokes n' jokes! We got to have this fellow Vet on-board. Primary CCW is a Glock 22 / .40, (another Glock-o-holic, OK I will go buy one as it seems to be a requirement to join this social group!!!! Sheesh!)
This is not the kind of mailman you want to yell at if your mail goes AWOL, this is his arsenal: A Browning 1910-1922 .32 ACP (My Dad brought this back from the ETO in '46. Nazi piece.) Mossberg Bantam .20 pump. Savage 111 '06. Defender "1895" .32 RF revolver (interest item only. Been advised not to fire) My first deer rifle was an '03-A3 that I sporterized and gave to my brother who still owns (but doesn't use) it. An NRA and American Legion member.
You appear to have your kit wired tight my friend and we look forward to your patronage on Vets and Guns.
    Regards,

    Canis-Lupus

    All,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I am a Sergeant First Class serving with the Bastogne Brigade, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne DIV (AASLT). Been in country for 14 months, third tour with this DIV. Currently on COB Speicher, Iraq. I am orginally from PA, now living in TN and getting ready to move to MO. I am married to the best woman ever, she has stuck with me through 39 months total in Iraq. Never complains, just understands. Hope to hear back from all of you. And no, I have never really considered carrying anything but a .45, and really I carry that 1911 constantly ever since I got it. Great shooting gun, if anyone had any doubts about a 1911 from SIG, I can promise you, they are great.

Vets and Guns welcomes Beakereod another USAF dynamo zounds like an Active Duty airman with 9 years in, stationed out of Arkansas.
In the 'Rak he was in Kirkuk in 06, worked with the 3/25th Sappers. Essayons!
Primary carry is a S&W 642, but seems this he has more weapons than a Delta/SEAL team packing heavy:
    Remington 1903A3
    Winchester highwall 40-65
    Colt Trooper MkV
    S&W 642
    Steyr Pro-hunter 6.5X55
AND as if that ain't enough to take out an average sized city this patrot also has Black powder shooting, collecting WWII boltguns! Bloody-hell!
Either he has a death wish or lives it VERY close to the edge with a mission of EOD, IED's and booby-traps are a rush, or at least you seldom see/hear the one that has your name on it, none of the Soviet A-P or A-T mines had my name on 'em but a few fizzed B 4 they burnt out, the fastest sprinting I have ever did in my 12Bush Combat Engineer 1-st 3 years in OD-Green/or Ft. Lost in da Woods, training.
A 'Master Blasters' and NRA member.
I have a good feeling about this member and would love some (OPSEC-cleared) posts about your very real life experiences. Eyes on target, boots on the ground, we as a group wait for you to post a good SITREP of what the media seems to miss on your hi-end job.
    Welcome to Vets and Guns!

    Canis-Lupus

    (I got a 007-Walther PPK-S too).
We hope you enjoy your stay here, you have many ex-Nam service brothers in arms online here.
    Regards,

    Canis-Lupus
