Anyone want to share their experience with the P99 as a carry gun and the PPK as a backup? Or about either one in general... ease of maintenance, handling, natural point, accuracy (the gun, not the shooter) and anything else pertinent to a possible new owner? How is the factory on suport, if anyone has had need???

I am also looking at Browning HP. I can carry concealed or open in MA. with a Class A license, so a frank open assessment would be really helpful. A friend already recommended the Walthers....I'm just the 'check twice, buy once' sort of guy.

The P99 is a 'sizable' gun with a four inch barrel. I CCed this weapon for years without any major issues or fighting to hide its mass. The older PP series will of course be easier to conceal, but will short change you when it comes to stopping power and mag capacity, while weighing in around the same as the P99. In truth any Walther will serve you well. In the US customer service is provided through Smith & Wesson who is the North American importer of modern Walthers. Since S&W collaborated with Walther in the 1990's to make the P99 they can provide every service for the P99 series. However, it is worth mentioning that S&W customer service remains somewhat ineffective when it comes to the newest, all German made PPS models.

The Browning Hi-Power is legendary and will also serve you well.

1969 W. German nickel plated PPK/S , awesome carry gun . Disappears in your pocket or shoulder rig , flat as a pancake with unmatched cool factor and history .
