I've had some issues with WWB 115gr FMJ in my Taurus PT-709, failure to feed. However, all my other 9's have had no problems with them. My Taurus actually liked the heavier rounds 124/147 gr. She's well broken-in now so I guess should try some different ammo again. The problem is finding practice rounds at the weights that are reasonable.

I assume that you are going to shoot regularly, in which case you might want the new Winchester loads which come in a training load and an equal personal defense load.

Two loads which I've had good results with are Black Hills 115 JHP standard load and Gold Dot 124 HP standard load. The BH functions a little better in finicky pistols due to the more rounded profile of the bullet. The 124 GD has proven to be a good performer when finishing off vehicle struck deer and has knocked off a couple of foolish coyotes, too. I don't care for the 147 GD in pistols and reserve it for carbine use.

Ive been researching this week and have decided that I have narrowed down to the Hornady critical defense 115grain and the federal 124 hst. I chose these particular rounds because from what I gather, they penetrate comparatively less than their counterparts. I ordered several boxes of each last night to see which works most effectively with my m&p 9c.

Golden Saber, Hydrashock, etc. They all do what they are designed to do. We all know what their expansion is. I don't under stand why everyone has to shoot boxes of them downrange. Personal defense 95% of the time is within 15 feet. Instead of spending hundreds on ammo, stand in front of a mirror and DRAW YOUR WEAPON effeciently and effectively. You can have the best cannon blaster on the planet, but if you can't get to it you might as well use a stick. Most of the power mongers looking for the best ammo around, at least that I have met, love to show, brag, and talk, but then can't even clear leather in under 15 seconds. In the real world you will be dead then. Practice, practice and practice then you will find out that even FMJ will do the job, you just have to get it there.

i have a Bursa thunder9pro ultra compact, i use either Magnatech 124gr guardian gold or DRT 95gr jhp. as i only have a 3.5" bbl i am not going to be shooting more than about 30 ft. most of the time. i realy like the DRT rounds as they penatrate about 2-3" and leave a wound channel about the size of a soccer ball!
