Default Accuracy of FMJ vs JHP

I have a chance to buy some bulk ammo. I plink and target shoot, but also do some competition shooting mostly for fun (but I want to win), and for personal defense.
I am thinking I want to buy JHP to do all these things I mentioned, but don't want to lose accuracy when shooting competition.
So the question is: should I buy JHP and do all the types of shooting with no particular loss of accuracy? Or, should I buy FMJ for the plinking and competition and go with JHP for PD?
I am speaking specifically of .45 230gr so probably don't need to move to +P JHP for defense with this round.

Don't waste the money for practice.

The ballistics from a handgun, at ranges of most practice and competition vary only slightly.

If you really want to shoot tighter groups, start reloading! You will discover no factory ammo even comes close to loads you create.

OK, I'll put the question in your world of reloads.
Would you expect better accuracy in your reloads in FMJ or JHP if everything was exactly the same except the slug? In other words, is there a great difference in accuracy, or, only a very slight imperceptable difference?

My 45acp competition loads are made from same head-stamp brass. The projectile is a plated 200gr SWC.

Find powder/primer combo to get a velocity to a level you get accurate and reliable function.

I shoot with some of the top shooters in the country. They use Zero hollow points for everything. They don't get them for free but we do get a deal on them as a group we buy a bunch and it cut down the price.
