Default The 6.8 Remington SPC

I'm starting to plan my next AR build. I have a 5.56/.223 lightweight carbine that I'm very happy with. So for my next build I was looking at more of a long range tack driver rifle. I had been thinking of building an AR-10 .308 but have been reading more about the 6.8 Remington SPC. Do any of you have any experience with this round? Thanks guys.

Great round. My hunting buddy used his 6.8 on our last deer hunt. He got a nice buck. Excellent round for the range or the hunting field. Good thing about the round is that it works with the standard AR15 magazines.

Thanks GF. The main reason I'm looking at the 6.8 SPC and the 6.5 Grendal is because they work with the standard AR15 lower. Which is cheaper the the AR-10 lower.

Have you heard anything about the 6.5 Grendel?

I've been thinking about building a 6.8 SPC also. I have a 6 x 45 (223/6mm) and enjoy shooting it with 100 gn bullets. I guess one more AR won't hurt...I have 8 now.

I know it' an addiction! You build your first then you're hooked. I'd like to build a few more. Next will be a 20" or 24" stainless in either 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel, or 300 whisper. Then maybe a SBR.

A suppressed 300 whisper would probably be a nice setup.

Default Here's some info

Here's some info I found researching this same issue for a buddy of mine. He went with the 6.8 SPC. Please look at the attachment IOT compare ballistics.

6.8 SPC-- The .30 Remington is the parent case. The case was shortened, given a new shoulder and blown out to maximum capacity for a new high-performance propellant. It's basically a .270.
