just wondering.. was thinking of getting some steel core ammo for my AK-47 just for the fun of it. but when I read about it they seem to make references to armor piercing rounds being somehow different. so my question is, is there a real difference between armor piercing and steel core ammo?

Nope no diff that I know of. Armor piercing ammo is steel core. Some people call it steel core some call it armor piercing. In any case it'll shoot fine through your AK.

Just don't shoot it at an indoor range! They won't be very happy with you.

lol yeah one time in utah when I went to a range with my russian M91/30, they took one of my rounds and took a file to it to make sure it did not have a steel core. now that would be bad!
