    Hi people!
New member here, haven't posted before.
I wanted a Kimber Ultra Carry II but price is not possible currently.
Am looking at a Para Warthog 3in.barrel 45a.c.p. for c.c.
Anybody have any prior experience with this mdl. or Para in general?
    Thanks; FCP

My daily carry is a Warthog. It's a great gun. I use a Crossbreed Supertuck at the 4:00 position with no trouble and total comfort. 10+1 with a second 10-round mag is hard to beat.

I will suggest handling a Warthog before purchase, tho. A couple of my friends have voiced a dislike for the way the heel of the grip fits their hand.

I have a Canadian Para P-14 but I am having problems with the ejector, right now, where it ejects the spend cartridge back. It is accurate and has never jammed on me.

I met a guy who has a Kimber and had to send it to the factory to get it fixed. After that, it has been very reliable. His friend had a similar issue. I don't know how often something like that occurs-I forsee it is uncommon.

    Hi and Welcome FCP,

I have a Kimber in 3". And I got the Kimber, an Ultra Crimson Carry II, for $700.00 used and it was less than a year old. No ouch involved with that at all. My wife loves to shoot it. I used to have a Springfield GI in 3" and that had some ouch. My brother owns it now.

I have a Para LTC as well, in 4.25", and that has been flawless for over 2000 rounds. Some FTE issues with Magtech ammo though. Probably one or two in 50 rounds fired. I carry the Para in winter when I have a coat, or if I feel like open carrying.

Iceman, you're welcome to come up to Bullseye Shooting Range in North Branch if you want to try either, or both. We may have different viewpoints when it comes to the role of government, but I wouldn't hold that against you personally. PM me if you are interested. I am there almost every weekend. It's my only hobby.

I have one friend that has a Para and loves it. I haven't heard any complains from him.

My other friend that carries regularly has two Kimbers. One he loves and has no complains about and the other is a hunk of junk. It wouldn't feed right from new so he sent it in. The first guy he talked to basically called him a liar and treated him like crap. Then he finally got ahold of someone else and they started to get serious about fixing the gun. They replaced the slide they said because it was warped. Then it got lost in shipping back for a couple of weeks. He got it finally and the slide was replaced. They did not put a new slide on though they put a slightly used slide on. It has holster wear on it. (He hasn't had it in his possession long enough to even carry it yet, let alone get some holster wear.)He took it out to the range a few days ago and after a few rounds the ejector broke. The lack of customer service is really pissing him off.

The 3" barrel is really pretty easy to control. I don't have any complaints about my Taurus .45 with a short barrel and it is lighter then that Para. That is what I may get for myself next.
