Default Para GI 1911 Vs Taurus 2 tone 1911...

I was at Academy sports the other day and saw a 2 tone Taurus 1911 and a plain jane no frills Para GI. Both brand new. The Taurus was $529 and the Para was $579. Anybody have an idea why the feature loaded Taurus would sell for less than the basically stripped Para? From what I've read and heard each model are both about equal when it comes to standards and quality. Except the taurus is better suited for +p loads. Yeah, I know there other 1911 options out there for the money but these 2 are the ones I'm interested right now.
    Thanks for your input.

I've got a Taurus PT1911AR and really enjoy it. You get a lot of "bang" for your buck. You'll hear some bad about Taurus, but I've had no problem and have put a bunch of lead downrange.

+1 on the taurus PT1911AR. Had a buddy with one that was awesome to go shooting with...then he got in a bad car crash and the gun melted into oblivion...sad day...won't regret the taurus though :-)

Good luck with your new gun I hear good things about Kimbers I just can't afford one now.

I also have a Tarus PT-1911 Two Tone, mine has about 200-350 rounds through it with no FTF,etc.

+1. I love my 1911AR, no problems so far at all. I think it's a hell of a gun for the money.
For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the protected will never know.
