+P in a 1911

I have a springfield 1911A1. I have heard it will take +p rounds, just don't make a habit of it. Any thoughts out there?

I believe they recommend only shooting +p in the full-size models, not the commander-length or smaller ones. Other than that I doubt you'll have a problem but you may want to get a heaver recoil spring.
