Default Got a question for the experts :)

    Hello,

My name is Jordan and this is my first post here. I am interested in buying a 1911. Springfield is my favorite so far. I am probably going to buy used and I don't know want to get ripped off. This gun(see link) is for sale in my area and has a few mods..is this a good deal?

    Thanks for your help!
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

link doesn't work. How much pistol shooting experience do you have, how much will you shoot it, will you get some instruction with it? Do you want to ccw it? Will you cast bullets or reload for it? is there somebody local who offers cast bullets for $80 a thousand, or reloads for $150 a thou, so you can practice a lot? If you can't afford an "extra" $200 for the gun, how can you afford $50 an hour instruction, or the 1000's of rds per year needed for useful skill? you don't want a GI model, I can tell you that much! The $100 extra (on good used condition Splds, ) spent on the "loaded" series of guns, ie, better sights, ducktail grip safety, speed lever thumb safety, trigger stop, better feed ramp desight, enlarged ejection port, etc, is money very well spent

A 1911 is a fine gun, I love mine. That being.said, the other poster has a point. I have a high standard 1911 and it's expensive to feed, especially the self defense rounds it took to convince me that it.could handle self defense rounds. Fortunately that used up my christmas birthday grace to have piece of mind. .45s are like V8 motors, I love the sound but feeding it is a b*tch.

Looks like the gun sold. It was a good deal and worth the $675 the owner wanted.
