    Default my first handgun

two days ago i went to a local gun store and put a deposit down on a ruger SR9c, the all black version, because a deposit is needed during the application process here in orange county new york. i got an interview on the spot and was told after that i should have my permit within 4 months. i can not wait to get my permit so i can go pick p my ruger and see if its as good as it feels. thought i would share my excitement about the SR9c and owning my first handgun soon

Congratulations. I live in Erie county ny. The waiting game sucks. Took me 13 months to get mine, and its definitely a good feeling once you get it. Advice, once u got your gun, get to the range and put a few hundred rounds thru it. Start with target rounds, then put in a few clips of self-defense rounds. Hornady, federal and gold dot are few good ones. See what feels the best for u and your gun. Also spend the $ on a good holster. Concealed and outside the pants. Again congratulations

    Thumbs up

Sorry to hear about your waiting game, but you will like the Ruger.
I have the same one in silver and it shoots very nice. The trigger is smooth and the recoil is manageable. The chamer indicator is VERY visible (a little much for my taste) but it's my wife's carry gun. Good pistol. Enjoy!

I am in Orange also so I felt your pain. Davis in Goshen is a nice range. See you there. I got a .22 for the wait time and as soon as I picked it up, bought a Kimber. Just added a Sig p238 and I am in the waiting game again. Judge is on vacation.

I also have the sr9c it is a great carry pistol, so comfortable you hardly know it's there. Sorry to hear about your waiting period, I have a concealed carry hear in Washington State, if yo have there is no waiting period.

you have made an excellent choice in the Ruger SR9C. My wife got both the Ruger LC9, which she handles very well, and an SR9c - which stove pipes regularly in her hands! Turns out it isn't the weapon, it is her weak hands and wrists (limp-wristing), which she cannot avoid. Surprise - I now have an SR9c that works perfectly every time. With the 17 round magazine, + one in the pipe, I would say that you are well armed. That is, if you can even own a 17 round magazine, being outside of the Constitutional USA. Good luck, and practice. Sad and illogical laws that you have to deal with - so many states that have mostly reasonable laws, maybe some day, the oportunity to move will present itself.
