seems like i nice gun, like the idea of the single stack making it much easier to conceal. deff would work well as a BUG or a good summer time carry piece

Been talking about this one extensively on another forum I'm a member on. My biggest issue is the weight. 29oz if that's unloaded then your looking at well over 2 lbs fully loaded and ready. At that weight you you can get a lot, i mean a lot more options even in 45!
I carry a 36 and yes this gun beats it on size but weight it can't even hold a candle to it!
Now if it's 29oz fully loaded well for 3 oz less you get an extra round and I bet it's just as concealable in the g36!

I have 3 little 45s - G36, Defender, PM45. All considerably lighter than the XDS (and equal or better capacity). I like XDs very much, but my impression is that the only potential customers will be fan club members already. Doubt they'll be winning any Glock, Colt, Kahr, Taurus, AMT, Para, Kimber, Sig business.

Something closer in weight or size to the Kahr and they might....

    Even Glock got it close to 20oz. G36 + 3PAT = XDS. PM45 + LCP + pepper spray = XDS

The weight doesn't sound correct. According to Springfield, my 4" XD-40 service pistol also weighs 29oz with an empty mag. The micro XDS-45 is smaller. I'm guessing the weight was a misprint. Will have to wait and see.

Very possible. I have an XD 45 Tactical that is 32oz empty. 5" barrel, 13+1 cap.

They label this firearm as a pocket gun. While many have no issues pocket carrying the smallest glock (never was into glocks, so sorry I don't know all the different models), I had issues finding the right size and weight for me. Anything larger than the LCP, P238, P380 was too big for my pocket. I know a lot of other members felt the same way. 0.25" difference makes a huge impact on pocket carry.

Do you guys think this is small enough for a pocket carry gun?

I wonder if loaded weight is 29oz (5+1). As my M&P45c is 26.2 unloaded. 28.9oz with empty magazine. 36.4oz loaded 8+1 (230gr Hornady TAP). If that isn't true I have no idea how it it can weight so much while being 1.25" less in length, 0.4" less in height, and 0.3" less in slide width...... So XDS weight empty might be 22oz.... 5oz for 6 rounds of 230gr and 2oz for magazine is my wild guess. I will check it out when it makes it to local dealers.

29oz has to be a mistake. My G36 is 20oz empty and bigger in all dimensions.
