Ulster County, NY - Private handgun Transfer issues

I am trying to transfer a handgun on a private sale in Ulster County NY.

I am told that the Fereral background system and the NYS system are no longer working together on a private sale.

Does anyone have any info on this? It is crazy thay I can not transfer a handgun privately.

I would contact Maureen in the pistol permit department for instructions on the transfer. She's a gem.

I spoke to her, yes she is great.
They say the computers are not synced with the Fed database.
No private sale transfers. But thanks.

I was just notified that as of 3PM today the systems are working.
See, you make some noise and POOF! Things are working.

If the person you're selling to has a pistol permit in NY, the fact that a check has to be done is idiotic. If he couldn't pass the check he wouldn't have the permit. He should be able to just add the gun to his permit and take possession of it as soon as that is done.

The computers are all talking to each other now. The transfer was completed. I was the buyer.
