I do like the hard hitting .40S&W stuff... I also carry .45ACP on a regular basis... The original carry gun was the 6shooter (hence the name) in .357Mag... The choice came down to gun comfort and reliability... My CZ-75 9mm is a tack driver, handles like a dream, and carries condition 1 like my 1911... So many choices... All yours to make... Ahhhh Love America...
You can give peace a chance alright..

I'll seek cover in case it goes badly..

A 9mm may expand, but a .45 never shrinks. Bigger is always better no matter where you place the shot.

A good 9mm JHP will expand to the size of a FMJ 45. I have no issue when I carry a 9mm, which seem to multiply in my vault. I will carry a 40 S&W in the winter along with my PPQ. Summer is my LC9 and 340M&P.

.45 is too much, 9mm is not enough, thats why I chose .40SW

I carry both. A kel-tec P11 and my most recent purchase a XDm 45 compact. Which is a great gun. A little more weight and size but still conceals easy. Carry what your comfortable with.

Carry the one you shoot the best.

All handgun calibers suck when it comes to stopping a determined assailant. Good shot placemen trumps everything. Rapid multiple hits are likely to be required to stop the assault. Pick the one that allows you to do that the best, then go practice.

If I read the report from Bighouse Doc correctly, using the .45 ACP increases your accuracy pretty significantly over the 9mm, like 11% more. <is there a sarcasm button I could use?>

On a serious note, I wonder if having more ammunition makes one "apply liberally" instead of focusing on shot placement. Then again, we don't know where the data was derived for this study, particularly considering a more abundant thug population of 9mm users. They probably don't train as much for shot placement...

Most people learn that the real weapon is your mind and body...The gun is nothing but a tool. Any gun that fits you and that you can use effeciently in a stress environment.......
