Well, I finally found some time to go to the shooting range today to try out my new Ruger LCP.
I went through 50 rounds of Remington UMC FMJ (ball ammo) and 25 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense.

All that I can say is that this little Ruger pocket pistol recoils like a little beast!
That's my new nickname for it. My hand definately felt a little bit sore afterwards.

I was able to keep the majority of the Remington UMC FMJ .380 rounds within the red zone on a standard red & white paper target varying from the 'X' bulls eye, '10' ring & '9' ring.

I had 6 stragglers in the white '8' ring and 1 straggler in the white '7' ring.
This was done from varying distances of; 10 feet, 15 feet & 20 feet.

I finished off my practice session by shooting an entire box of Hornady Critical Defense .380 ammo with nothing but head shots at both the 10 and 15 foot distances on an orange colored human silhouette paper target.
13 of the Critical Defense rounds hit in the center mass of the head (nose & eyes to forehead) area.
5 rounds hit in the center of the mouth area, 3 in the chin area and 4 in the center neck area.

All in all I feel very confident that this little .380 can and will get the job done if ever needed.
I know that I would definately not want to get shot by one.

I am very satisfied thus far with this little Ruger, however I did notice that early on (in the first 12 rounds) I did have one stovepipe due to the 'takedown pin' having come halfway out. I was able to unjam the weapon & reset the pin.
Then I fired the rest of the rounds with no problem whatsoever.

Any thoughts/opinions on the 'takedown pin' situation??

Hey Outlaw, The LCP is a great little accurate gun! I have it with the Crimson Laserguard and it was very good out to 45' which is much further then what this gun is meant for. It was accurate out to there anyway. Have fun with it. You will find it easy to carry and quite often for ease you will carry it more then you thought. I have two pocket holsters I use that work well. BTW now you have to try the LCR in .38sp. :-)

Love my LCP! Did you put the mag extension on? It helps a lot in controlling the recoil.

Well I have put a few hundred rounds through mine and when I took my lcp yesterday, it was way easier ... Over time something makes the recoil better

I just got one too and it does have a bit of kick for a tiny terror. I had a bunch of FTF with mine forst time out so I polished the feed ramp and have not made it back yet to retest it. Hope it is fixed.

I have not had the problem with the pin but am interested to hear of a solution if someone has experienced this. The little guy does pack a punch but it is still easy to shoot accurately.

We have two LCP's the wifes w/o a laser and mine has the new Lasermax. The wife has put about 250 rounds through hers and it has been flawless! I have put between 50-100 rounds through mine without a hitch. We have shot PMJ, Winchester, Hornady Cit. Def., Remington Ultimate Home Defense, and who knows what else. I have some Blazers which I think will be fine and some TulAmmo cheap Russian stuff that I hear is crappy but I want to see it for myself. We are totally impressed with the reliability and accuracy of the LCP's. Ya it's not a .40 or .45 but for my wife it is the difference of carrying most of the time where she was not carrying her Taurus PT 111 because of its size and difficulty to conceal. She uses a Crossbreed for the most part and is waiting on a Flashbang to arrive. I bought mine as a summer carry which would be a little easier to conceal than my Springfield XD, now I find myself carrying it more and more either in my WhiteHat or my new Talon Wallet holster which is the coolest thing. My wife & I have the S & W Bodyguard .380 and have had the same experience with the surprising amount of recoil. The early Bodyguards had the same problem with the takedown lever so there is now a little spring clip you have to get past to pull it. A bit of a pain, but it does stay in when firing.

My LCP did pretty much the same thing, hurt my hands, had a small break in period where some pins came loose and had a couple FTF issues, but since then not a single hiccup, but then again, I don't spend HOURS shooting it lol
