New XS sights.....

I did alittle work to the XD today. I installed a Hogue handall grip and a set of XS sights. I'm still trying to decide if I like the grip but so far really like the sights. Its like having a beach ball on the front of the gun. Ok maybe not that big but very easy to get a fast sight picture. Here are a few pics.








I know some people have had questions about how accurate these sights are so here is my take on them. As self defense / combat sights they are great. Very easy to see the front sight against any background and much faster then normal dovetail type sights. As far as accuracy here is two 10 shot groups I shot at 20'. Not that far but I was more worried about how it grouped.

I posted a couple ?'s in another thread about your sites but in case you don't see em I'll ask here as well

1. How was the install of these sites?
2. Have you had any Fail to feed with your XD? I had one in mine with the Blazer ammo. The round stripped off the clip but did not feed it actually put a dent in the brass. cleared the jam and fired the rest of the clip but it was dissapointing..the gun has about 200 rounds through it so I'm wondering if it just isn't broke in??

I also installed a grip sleeve for mine but I bought the one for the compact and have it slid all the way to the bottom of the grip. It added two finger groove but I did not have to trim it for the grip safety...worked well.

I saw your other post in the general forum and answered your questions.

You are correct in the picture those are golden sabers but the targets were shot with some left over magtech 230gr FMJ's I had from class.

What I did with my grip was slide it up over the palm safety. Then I took a thin exacto knife and ran it between the safety and the grip. It made a nice clean cut out for the safety and allowed me to slide the grip up to exactly were I wanted it. I'll try and get a good pic of it tonight so you can see how it looks.

Don't the grips pop off? So you can put a small,M/L back grip on? Or is that only on the XDM?

The normal XD does not have that feature. If the XDm came in .45 I would have bought it but really didn't want to add a .40 to my list of needed ammo.
