Oil Bluing Has anyone had any experience with oil bluing? I want to oil blue my semi auto slide which is carbon steel to go on top of my stainless frame. I've seen it done on parts and barrels, but not slides except for crime manufacturers. Would the heat not distort the slide shape? Any input would be great.

To keep from distorting the heat needs to be applied evenly, and slowly and let it air cool naturally. I would use an oven and not a torch.
