    Default buying firearms on sunday

The question was possed to me today. If i go to the gun show on sunday can i buy a gun and have the check done and leave with it the same day?
I know years ago u could but it was run through the state and they changed it so the office was closed on sunday. I dont know if that had changed because of the new NICS checks. Any input would be appreciated. Im in indiana , sorry almost forgot.

If my memory serves me correctly (which of course it doesn't) The number the dealer calls the fbi at for background info is open from 5am till 1am eastern time 7 days a week.

But a carry permit serves as a background check in my state, and I thought it did in all states that issue them. That is a big benefit for me. I'm ex-military, and I had a security clearance, so when they checked they found a file, and over half the time they issued a delay before looking to see if it was a good guy file or a bad guy one.

I am a Gun Dealer and the law is if you are a dealer you must do a NICS check and can only deliver a gun from the address on your FFL or ship it to another FFL. I have no dought that many Dealers do not do it by the law. There is no one there to check on them. If you go to ATF site you will see the law as I wrote it. As a buyer you are not braking any law if the dealer does not do a NICS check. Unlawfull dealer like this are why they want to take buying guns from a swapmeet to end.

I would check on this as your CCP lets you take the gun home that day and that is a state issue. NICS is a Federal issue and has nothing to do with the state. According to my ATF book all states are required to do NICS checks.

Thanks for the replys . I do have UCP from the state of indiana. So leaving with it is no problem. I know at one time all the checks went through the state and they started closing the office on sunday. After reading the replys about the nics being avaible 7 days a week i dont think it will be a problem. I'm wanting to get a new handgun this weekend at the gun show but with my hours of work i cant make it till sundy. Thanks again for the replys . I really like the info i can get and learn from these forums. I crave knowledge and alot of people on here help with that lol.

Looking at this from a business point of view, no gun dealer in his right mind would pay to participate in a gun show on Sunday if they didn't have a way to handle the legal stuff.
