I am hoping it went off without a trigger pull. If the trigger was pulled, the instructor is an idiot.

I have to hope that the gun had a hangfire and went off as he walked up to clear the round.

Maybe we will hear more as time goes on.

What a terrible lack of basic rules if he pulled that trigger.

I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt as it stands and hoping for the real story to be less incriminating.

As a liberal I would say just ban this cop. He broke at least 3 rules in the NRA's 4 (or 5 if you count be aware of what's beyond your target) rules. But only liberals think there's a problem with this. Conservatives find his behavior completely defensible. Right? (No need to answer. I saw many thoughtful responses here, I just can't resist poking back at the predictable "LIBERALS are jerks" post.)

The proper procedure for correcting grip on the firing line is to unload/clear the weapon and then demostrate the correct fundamental. Pull him off the line before he kills someone.
Or keep a blue gun close by.....

Unfortunate incident, thank goodness the victim will be fine. It appears they were on the firing line, not in the classroom. The basic rules of gun safety ALWAYS apply, and if they had observed the one about not pointing the gun at anything you don't wish to destroy (paraphrased) -- she wouldn't have a hole in her arm or body.

It never ceases to amaze me how people manage to muzzle-sweep others so frequently!

Rule i: All guns are always loaded
rule ii: Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy
rule iii: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target
rule iv: Be sure of your target

In my CWP & Basic Pistol classes I teach:
    ACCIDENTS DON'T HAPPEN
    STUPIDITY HAPPENS

Accidents can be avoided. Due to the growing BLUE VOTE factor in our gene pool from past decades of gov't subsidies and NO idiot left behind, it is getting harder and harder to avoid STUPID.

Be sure to keep your priorities in mind, and wear them on your sleeve. Especially when you're in the voting booth.
Don't let PUBLIC EDUCATION be responsible for your legacy of "Gun Control". If you don't train them, who will?

That one caught me off guard one time. Took my son to a Home Gun Safety class and they said no live ammo, Its when he elaborated that even CCW folks were not allowed ammo in their guns and asked again if there was any live ammon in the room. I was the only one that stood up and took the magazine to the truck. Was really an odd feeling but I undersyand the safety aspect.

Sounds like they were on the range though in this instance.
