Default Only LEO experance with CCW

A few years ago at the mall in Daytona, FL:

Me: (Standing in line at chick-fil-a)
    LEO: "Hey, bud... your printing."
Me: "Damn cheep belt..." (adjust pants)
LEO: (gigging smile) "You have a permit, right?"
    Me: "Yep, wanna s..."
    LEO: "Nah" (big smile)
chick-fil-a Chick" "Can I take your order?"

Only time I've been made for CCW. Ordered a good belt from High Noon right after that.
I've posted this on another forum but thought it should be here.
I'll have what the gentleman on the floor is having.

Glad the LEO was cool about it. How do you like the High Noon belt?

Love the belt but I think it and my pants are shrinking.

Good question. I've had experiences with VCSO and they are fairly nice and understanding. DBPD, OTOH, can be very nasty depending on who you are and what you look like. You can ask a lot of te bikers that "visit" twice a year, at BikeToberFest and Bike Week.

It was not VCSO, I'm pretty sure he was Daytona but this was quite a while ago, could have been another local department officer (port orange, holly hill, ormond) working an extra job at the mall.

As a fairly recent former cop and now permit holder, I had my first encounter recently. I was picking my teenage son up at a friend's house, after midnight, and happened to be driving a little too fast. In Ohio, your CCW permit is linked to your vehicle registration, so the officer who stopped me knew I had a permit and asked if I was carrying before I could inform him that I was. He asked where my gun was, I told him it was IWB on my left side, pretty close to where I would have to reach to get my wallet and ID. He was very polite and professional. He used sound tactics, stepping back along side the car a bit, and conducting the traffic stop pretty much the same way I did for 23 years on the job. While this happened in a city very near the one I worked for, this young officer did not know me, nor me him. He did not cite me, just a verbal warning, and there was no issue on his part with my carrying. Smooth encounter, hopefully the rule rather than the exception.

As a biker that has "visited," I concur...
