Newspaper, TV, whoever will listen. If it's in your son's best interest, pay it and get it over with for him. I would also chase it as far as I could. I'm sure one of the big news stations would be interested in this.

That is a blatant violation of his right against Unlawful Search and Seizure.

For the officer to search his vehicle he had to have Probable Cause:

The mere facts and circumstances that would lead a man of prudence and caution to believe that a crime has been or is being committed.

I would file a lawsuit against the police department.

Sad but true, FL does have some real "Winners" when it comes to City LEO. Lauderdale By The Sea was really bad back in the 80's, the actually pull over Ft. Lauderdale P.D. & B.S.O. if they were going 2 miles over the speed limit and not running code.

Palm Beach P.D. will pull cars over on the island after 6 pm if they look like they belong to a "commoner" and give em crap.
