I have chuckled a lot reading this whole series. Glad to say the instructors I had for pistol training demonstrated both wheel and semiauto. I have had to laugh about the Andy references too. I also recall days from the "Army" when Private Snuffy couldn't qualify with his M-16...

Same story different people, same results.

My NRA instructors were very good instructors, my Sheriff Department Range officers were NRA instructor certifed, I guess I'm lucky.

My fqavorite stories come from the Army side, the Judge Advocate General - JAG Officer - read lawyer and judge in civilian life - who turns halfway around while carrying a locked and loaded M-9 9mm semiautopistol and says where are the targets going to pop-up at?

Not for nothing, the officer clearly did not have any training with a revolver but....when handing a firearm to another person male or female it should always be handed to the person with the action open and facing that person so that they can see that the weapon is in fact unloaded.Had I handed the officer my revolver,I would of opened the cylinder and handed the weapon to her butt first. An empty breech can not kill. I view it a courtesy and sign of respect when Im handed any firearm in this manner. Sometimes I think that we all need to go back to basics now and then. BTW OM44...I have the same Bulldog! Great Concealed Carry Weapon.!

Sadly, most LEOs are not gun people. They only carry the weapon because it is part of the uniform, and only qualify once a year or whenever their department mandates it. My lieutenant and I were 'gun nuts' on our department, and helped other deputies when needed. The LT was the department armorer and was official, while I was unofficial. We both reloaded and shot in competition, but the Lt was a good gunsmith, and taught me a lot. During the Tyson escape, I was a dispatcher and was put in charge of security for the radio room. The Major brought an M-1 carbine in one night and informed me of my responsibility. I had to tell him at that time I was totally ignorant of the carbine. He got me a 12 ga pump from the armory. This was made necessary because there had been a report that someone intended to attack the department HQ. One situation cited, the officer shooting another, actually did happen in Indianapolis, and was pure stupidity. One does not horseplay with a weapon.

I'm amazed this LEO didn't know any fellow officers who carried a J-frame snubby as a BUG. I gather they are very popular with LEOs. They could have shown her how it works.

Sure you're not referring to the LVMPD incident where a female officer had a ND while a suspect was being cuffed by another officer?

Another horror story was when I was going to the MGM Grand to see a concert. The member of security that escorted us to the security office back stage to check my CCW informed us she had an incident of a LEO who had to call her husband to find out the make and model of her firearm she was checking while she was seeing a concert.

I would think that since a LEO needs to pay attention to details especially with respect to tangible property she would at least know the make and model of her CCW.

LOL - Sorry for being off-topic but I have to admit it is always such a good chuckle when I watch that video. A lesson to any complacent, over-confident LEO's as well as a powerful lesson on how ND's happen.
