    Default Galil Bolt Catch?

    Hey board...

I have this Galil made by Century Arms, it's actually called a Golani Sporter .223. Not effected by the recall.

I need to know if the bolt is supposed to catch in the back position? I can't get it to catch in any condition; empty mag, full mag, no mag.

I can't imagine a rifle that doesn't catch, honestly. Makes for a slower reload for one thing...having to cock the slide after a mag change doesn't seem efficient.

    Thanks.

Not completely sure but AK's don't have one either and the Galil is based on those.

Default WAS: Bolt Catch NOW: Ejection Problems

Yes...found out that the bolt is designed not to catch.

    ...BUT...

Now we're having problems with ejecting casings...can get between one and four shots off before it fails to eject, forcing a full clearing procedure, which is an even bigger pain with no bolt catch :D

You AK guys...any ideas on the ejection problem? Could it be the main spring is too stiff, or the ejection spring is too weak?

You get a manual showing a thorough disassembly and cleaning? That would be my first move. Even if its brand new.
