Here's where I'm at right now. 2 pc. quad rail. Flip up MBUS on the front of rail. Low profile gas block.
Red Dot tube. or Red Dot sight.
Sorry if said already, but if you are putting a 3-9 power scope on it, I don't think you will ever be able to see the front sight through it. The way the optics work with the magnification and it being so close to the scope, it disappears. Really co-witness is for 1x or no magnification optics like an Eotech or Aimpoint. If you really want to know, check out the forums on ar15.com. The 2 piece quad rail is the simplest to install with no smithing required (usually).

I would save up a little more money and buy the S&W model that already has a quad rail, with EO-Tech. Red dot you can co witness or fold the irons down.
OK, it's all done & I am real happy with it. Took it to the range to sight in the red dot, co-witness is perfect.
Ended up with a Yankee Hill fold down front sight/ gas block. 2 pc. alum. quad rail. 1/2" riser with a Sniper red dot. Went with OD covers.
Less than $800 total.
Wow. Outstanding. Great job.
