    Smile 30-30

I am thinking of getting a 30-30 lever action. I live in Eastern Washington State and was wondering about how the various brands stack up when compared to each other. I was also wondering what one would cost used in this area. Im not writting off a new one but these days money is tight. I did find a Marlin model 336Y which looks nice, but am open to anything. Thoughts?

Marlin or savage... I have a Marlin that's older than I am that my uncle gave me... Proper upkeep goes a long way cause its still reliable and accurate.

I had a Marlin model 336 for a long time. It served me very well in the deep woods of Pennsylvania for many a deer season. Very old, reliable design. Easy to maintain and took every abuse I threw at it. Sad day when I let it go.

Try and find a used Winchester 94. Next best to original. Either a pre-64 or a newer model.

I have a Marlin I bought 30 years ago. Great gun. Still like brand new. It has been through many a deer hunt too.

My brother loves marlins and has several.... My dad has one in .357 and
Another in 30-30. I like Henry rifles much more.... I wanted a 45-70, so my wife bought me a marlin. I'm really not very happy with the fit and finish, but it was a gift... Of course, after she got me the marlin, Henry announced the release of a new rifle.... In 45-70. I might have to "regift" the
Marlin and get the Henry. Give them a serious look, Henry makes an amazing rifle, and it is made in the good old U.S. of A.

I have a Henry lever action 22LR and love it. But the question is how much is a used Henry or Marlin or Savage or Winchester or other gun worth used? Or does any of you have one for sale?

Have a 336CS Marlin 30-30, 1983 edition. Great rifle for field carry. Put on a Williams peep sight and really like ease of getting on target.
Don't know much about the others. Also like the side ejection of the Marlin.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you get.

I had a Winchester "94", Used it for many years on Deer here in VA. Great weapon. one draw back .. if you want to put a scope on it, a cantelever mount (hangs the scope off the left side) must be used. Son now uses it in California (with scope).
