Hi lukem,
Thanks for the invite. I am a retired Lieutenant Colonel, Army Engineers and have been shooting for over 50 years now. I have been into just about everything in the way of firearms but I am now concentrating on Cowboy Action Shooting with single action Colt revolvers, lever action rifles and Winchester M1897 and double-barrel shotguns. My current project is to get an old Martini-Henry 577/450 shooting again. It is a Mark II, 1888 vintage in very good condition except for the bore, which is fairly worn. I have slugged it at 0.4777" - a far cry from its original 0.450 nominal bore diameter (although most were in the 0.462" to 0.465" range). I am going to try shooting a 0.478" bullet. If I can't get acceptable accuracy out to 100 yards I will either try to have the bore sleeved or get a new barrel. If you should ever run across a barrel for a Martini-Henry Mk. I or Mk. II, please let me know. Love your rifle.
