Hi Mechtester-- I appreciated your comments to the guy wondering about a .30-30 or a 30.06. I have a question maybe you could help me with. I had great eyes till I turned 45, and I'm looking to get a scope for my Marlin .30-30. I would like a fixed power scope. Leupold sells an FXII in 2.5 and 4.0 power. Most hunting here is under a 100 yards. Is there much difference between a 2.5 and a 4x? Would I be disappointed with a 2.5 at 150 yards? Is there anything else I should be thinking about? I mostly wanted to fixed power for lighter weight and more simplicity. I'll never be a long range target shooter with the .30-30. But I want to shoot accurately and humanely. Thanks for any thoughts you might have. Jim
