We believe this was made by a contract Gunsmith, Lemual Pomeroy, attached to Springfield Armory.  This is a type III of the 1816 Musket  It has been a Family Attic Gun handed down Father to son.  Dated US Army 1832.  69 Cal Musket.  57 5/8" Tall

    I concur, this IS a Harper's Ferry Arsenal gun. During the War Between the States confederate armorers seized many of these weapons and retrofitted them with nipples so they could be primed with caps instead of flint. However, yours is in its original condition, making it quite a collector piece.
