Need Help Hey Everyone,
I met a guy about two months ago at one of our local Gun shops. We struck up an Conversation about shooting and, weapons. He seemed like an good guy. We decieded to meet one day and go shooting together. I talked to him several times on the phone and his Conversations were always about his Military Service. He has told me allot of Disturbing things Keep in mind he is my age of 46 But, He told me that he was in the Army Attached to a secert part of the CIA Whose mission was to go where ever they sent him to eliminate Bad Guys. He said that he was in Vietnam in 1983 where they took out several bad guys his stories are really Graphic. He has said that he does have CIA clearence still today I asked him when he served he told me between 1982-1988 because he signed up for Sniper school and thats why he did 6 years. Now I never served in the Military because of medical reason so I dont know allot of terms or Military Talk but, this guy goes on and on I asked him the other day not to be so graphic in front of my two sons because they dont need to hear that stuff. on Saturday 04-22-10 We decieded to go shooting at my cabin when he showed up he didnt have any weapons with him I said I thought we were going to shoot his reply was he forgot his handgun and Rifle and, he asked if he could shoot mine so I said yeah no Problem I let him shoot my Ruger P345 .45 ACP and he couldnt hit the paper at 20 yards I asked him I thought you were a sniper he said that he was only use to shooting the .50 caliber that was what he was Trained on??????? after about a hour or so I got out my weatherby .300 and put some targets at 200 yards I shot first hitting the bull 4 times out of 6 shots when it was this guys turn (John) He couldnt even load gun properly and didnt hit target once. anyways he beagn his war stories again telli ng us all kind of stuff he said that he was in somolia Where the black hawks went down and he rescued a couple pilots I cant keep up with his stories Can some of you honest,real Veterans help me exspose this guy I have sinca asked him not to call me anymore and he got upset I told him I think he has been bullshitting me this whole time I found out he doesnt even have his Concealed weapons permit Because one of the girls in our county department is a friend of mine and she ran his name and it showed no permit ever beiing issued in his name. Anyways he called me 4times today and I finally answered and told him that I didnt want to talk or be around him anymore I feel like an jerk because I had this clown in my house around my children and at my cabin and all he has done is ******** me but how can I find out if he was really in the Army or if he was a real sniper attached to the CIA Im sure there is someway to exspose him Thanks Guys for helping me if you can I think my step should be calling my local police department but whatever help you all can do is Great..

WOW ! that is just weird ! Im a grown man 2 children (girls 6 and 15) (lord help me and more so the other person if anybody ever hurts them) I dunno about this cat trophyhunter ! i mean there are some liers out there but geeeesh. Sniper ? vietnam vet? rescuing pilots? i would most certainly stay away from this guy ESPECIALLY your KIDS ! just my opinion but u never know these days. your instinct was right ! (sound like a wak job to me)

Real veterans don't need war stories to entertain themselves. You've been taken in by a wannabe who never was. Cautiously make it clear to him that you've seen through his lies and that he is persona non grata. If ANYTHING suspicious happens, or this guy doesn't go away, talk to your PD about a suspicious character.
I think Wolfhunter hit the mark there. I'll ask a military friend of mine if there is a way to get ID or any military info via name. If you have the guys real name let me know (PM) and I will see what he can come up with. Worth a try..

Kind of pitiful, really.... Well, when I was in super-secret sniper school at the CIA, I discovered that.....
Seriously, it does make me feel a bit sad for this obviously lonesome fellow. How sad is it that he has to create such a convoluted tale just to try to win your friendship. The way that I see it, you have a couple of choices:
1) You can explain to him that you know that he is full of crap, but that you like him as a person, and are willing to start over based on a foundation of honesty. Explain that, not only will he have to apologize to your boys for not telling the truth, but any further dishonesty on his part will be reason enough to end the friendship. If he refuses to back off of his story, then he has done himself in. If, however, he DOES take the opportunity to better himself through the truth, you may just end up with a true friend, some good Karma, and the unknown thanks of those who will come after. As grandpa used to say, "It would be the Christian thing to do." However, crazy is still crazy, so be careful.
2) You can tell him to go pee up a rope, and suggest that he not darken your door or ring your telephone again. Explain that you have your kids to think about, and that any more attempts to contact you in any way will be reported to the police. No buddy, no Karma, and you still have to be careful because crazy is still crazy. However, it will probably be easier to just cut the guy loose.
My question would be, regardless of the truth of his stories, why did you let him tell that stuff to (or in front of) your kids?

Sounds like a compulsive liar to me. My husband had a friend exactly like that... Navy Seal was his story. The lies just got bigger and better as it went on. Husband finally dropped him as a friend. They guy was harmless, but it just never stopped. We think he believed his own stories.
Drop him. Don't feel bad about it and certainly keep your kids away from him.

Honestly "IF" he EVER was in the CIA and doing the secret stuff he claims he did, You would never hear about it. I DID work with "OGA" (Other Government Agency) for several months in Iraq and by the end of mission, I still didn't get their real names! Nicknames for days, but thats it. Some went by first names ONLY, but then again who knows if that even was their real first name.
