Thanx Beau for bringing the article to us. I'd say a tear came to my eye but that wouldn't be 'macho', now would it...

Incredibly powerful photos that show the true character of our four legged family members. I teared up on this and feel overwhelming sadness for the dog as well as the family.

Amazing what animals sense! A similar thing happened here in St Petersburg Fla early this year. Two officers were killed serving a felony arrest warrant. At the funeral for the two officers, outside the church the K-9 unit was gathered to escort the coffins to the hearses . Outside one of the dogs could not be controlled and was barking and would not sit still while all the other dogs were quite and sitting at their handlers sides. Turns out the unruly dog was that of Jeffrey Yaslowitz, the 39-year-old K-9 officer who was killed. The other officer killed was Sgt. Thomas Baitinger.

That's tough as a veteran and current service member to see the family members (four legged) morn for a lost one. It's very touching and will sure enough bring a tear to your eye.
