Default Marines Urinating on Taliban Corpses

This was sent to me by another retired Army LTC. Sums it up pretty well.

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), a former Army Lieutenant Colonel, sends THE WEEKLY STANDARD an
email commenting on the Marines' video, and has given us permission to publish it.

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses.
I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies
dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater
security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.
“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the
two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?
“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15
(non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file,
and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God,
Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.
“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

Funny, I remember plenty of outrage and indignation at the previous incidents.

And is acting like the Taliban *REALLY* what we want our soldiers to do?

For cripes sake, if they're going to do this nonsense, at least have the common intelligence to *NOT VIDEO RECORD IT*!!! Yes, sh-t happens. But don't record the sh-t happening on video.

What were these fine young men, who are fighting savages who have no uniform, who cut off heads, drag bodies through the streets, and hang corpes on bridges thinking? They should have pissed on the Derkas first...then shot them. War crime Cankles??? ...My Ass!!!

What these Marines did is deplorable. That being said, war is hell. It's about braking things and killing people. All you holly than thou, bed wetting, bleeding heart liberals that can't understand this, need to quit telling us how to fight wars and go play cribbage with your like minded buddies. Leave the military to fight the wars our politicians like to start. One other thing, don't film these things. What the h&ll were you thinking.

Pissing on the corpse of the enemy may seem like a high school prank but when you consider where they are and what kind of rage an act like that will stir up with the locals, it seems pretty stupid to me.

Not only are the Marines that did this looking like idiots but they put every other US personnel over there in a higher state of danger than they were before. They drag the honor of the Corp down to the same level as the enemy they are fighting. The Marines are supposed to hold themselves to a higher standard and this is not it.

Now on the flip side, the dead lump of flesh they're releasing on is the same stool that was trying to kill the Marines not more that 20 minutes earlier. So they release anger, fear and every other emotion they had pent up during the fire fight by releasing a stream on the enemy. Childish but understandable. But why video it? That was the dumbest part of all. IMHO of course.

The left have run quickly to condemn the action. It was despicable. The 'official talking heads' of the administration have condemned the action as expected to try and squash the inevitable tide of 'outrage' from the leaders of the sand box nations that breed the enemy that tried to kill the same Marines. A political move that, at the expense of these Marines, may save the lives of others in the region. But what the administration fails to understand is that their words of condemnation will be used by the enemy in their favor.

Rep. West has the right idea. An article 15 and restitution to the Corp. I add possible discharge from the Corp. That's who was offended the most by this prank.

West was doing real well with the statement right up to the end where he tells anyone that hasn't fought to shut up. His statement almost implies that only the fighters have the right to freedom of speech.

I like West, but he's a lot like the rest of the political machine. He says what he thinks we want to hear. He has a good message but screwed up the delivery.

I think what he wanted to say was 'until you experience the terror of war, don't pass judgement on those that put their lives on the line for the freedom of everyone, including the uneducated animals that are trying to kill them'. Of course I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth.

Of course the left will just say that West is "trying use this heinous act as a political tool to bolster his base and play to the war mongering right" Just wait for it. It'll come.

Your not the only one. But that's ok. Can't have a discussion if there aren't different points of view.

    Marines did nothing wrong.

Back about 100 yrs ago a marine col.
    In the Philippines captured Muslim
Insurgents. They would ambush marines time and time again.
He gave them a firing Sqd first had his men slaughter a pig smear the pig on the Muslims and dippy the bullets of the marines in pig blood.

He then shot the insurgents But first let
One go to send the message of what happens if they attack marines.

Attacks stopped. Actions speak louder than words.
