Are all of you who are thanking the OP for his service missing the (obvious to me, maybe not to you) part at the very beginning that he is "sharing" this amusing story with you, and not telling it as the person that it happened to....
There are at least 10 or 20 variations of this story out on the 'net....
I do like the story though, and dont doubt that things like this happen quite frequently to our troops...

What the hell happened you ask? Two words; "Progressive Fascism".
That's what has happened and is 'continuing' to happen.

Really! I know what happened. Obama is running this zoo and running into the ground. TSA is his future guard.

It pretty much started with FDR! The communist movement has been worming it's way like termites eating away the foundation of our Rebublic. Barry is merely a pawn in the push towards communism. Welcome home! We have now 1 out of 5 people Totally dependent on tax payer hand outs (distubuted by the imperial government) at gun point. Where do we go from here?? Is our neighbor now the enemy?? While nogod is Layla land thinking this is all BS.

First of all from one Veteran to another, welcome back and thank you for your service.

Now for the bad news. That crap with the TSA is the least of your worries. While you were deployed, this became law:

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012 was signed into United States law on December 31, 2011 by President Barack Obama.

The most controversial provisions to receive wide attention are contained in Title X, Subtitle D, entitled "Counter-Terrorism." In particular, sub-sections 1021 and 1022, which deal with detention of persons the government suspects of involvement in terrorism, have generated controversy as to their legal meaning and their potential implications for abuse of Presidential authority. Although the White House and Senate sponsors maintain that the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) already grants presidential authority for indefinite detention, the Act states that Congress "affirms" this authority and makes specific provisions as to the exercise of that authority. The detention provisions of the Act have received critical attention by, among others, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and some media sources which are concerned about the scope of the President's authority, including contentions that those whom they claim may be held indefinitely could include U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, including arrests by members of the Armed Forces.

I urge you to look into this in depth as one way or another you could be involved in it or it is in the realm of possibility it could be inflicted on you.

I would also ask that you consider the oath you swore upon your enlistment. There is a reason that defending your country from enemies, both foreign and domestic, comes before obedience to the chain of command.

Your enlisment has a defined time limit. The oath you swore does not.

Again, thank you for your service and sacrifice.

    *Sigh*

I swear that the reading comprehension level of the people on this site leaves a lot to be desired....

Why are you thanking him for his service and welcoming him back WHEN THE STORY WAS NOT BY/ABOUT HIM PERSONALLY?

I am in no way denying that the OP may or may not be a veteran, ONLY that he is sharing a story he read somewhere else with us...

I fully understood everything you wrote and elected to ignore you because I had a message I wanted to publish and it didn't make any difference to me if this was a first person narrative by the OP or not.

I do agree with you though. Some people on this site do not comprehend well or at all what is written by others or why. Then they appoint themselves as the third grade reading and comprehension teacher and make foolish comments because of some superiority complex they are struggling with.

You fully understood me, Yet you "thanked" him for his service... What are you using as your basis of his "serving"?

If I posted a story about astronauts, would you then think that I too am an astronaut?

Again, I have no idea whether the OP (who only repeated a story he saw on the internet) has, or has not "served", but NEITHER do you!!!

That is for another forum tho, so enough of that.

    Caribou,
Thanks for yours and your fellow military personnel for what you do. I have a son-in-law now in basic, I pray that he makes it through his hitch safely as I pray all of our military personnel do. This country has been taken over by the spineless, don't offend anyone, must be politically correct, save everyone BUT the people in this country idiots. I feel sorry for what you have gone through both over there and here. None of us, unless some drastic changes take effect soon, are going to be very happy with our country or leadership. Unfortunately, I don't believe any of the bullbutter that ANY of the candidate hopefuls are spouting. Let what the people want to hear come across their lips, and then do what the hell ever when elected. Oops, I am beginning to rant...
I appreciate your gratitude and I did serve but that was many years before TSA. I would like to clarify that this experience is not mine but that of those serving our country now. I brought this forward to let people know of another problem with our government and the insult and injustice heaped on our troops.

First off, thank you for your service. This country is going down the tubes because I can hear that "great flushing sound". There is no reason to treat and disrespect our servicemen and veterans like that, no excuse what-so-ever. A waste of time, money and resources scouring our returning military and grandmas in wheel chairs and leaving our boarders wide open.

At 20 years old when I returned home from a combat tour, I thought I was disrespected? I could'nt vote, buy a beer or legally buy my own car. After learning how our returning veterans are being treated now days, it's repulsive and disgusting.

Todays US empire IS NOT the America of my fathers. When you start disrespecting and demoralizing those who keep this nation safe by a political arm of the government, and does everything BUT home land security. The house of cards are going to fall.

Talk about an oxymoron, Home Land Security... To protect the US from enemies both foreign and domestic.

    God Bless!
