I made it to SSgt in the USMC before being sent back from Viet Nam to go to OCS. From there I continued to my 20 and retired as a Captain. It is true that you really can't live off what you get as retirement. So, after one retires it is necessary to go to work for a change. I was flying C-130s and helicopters when I retired, and more recently have retired from flying EMS helicopters.
After getting wounded during TET 68 was medically restricted and sent to Korea..volunteered my draft and served only 2..After dropping OCS was informed "That's why everyone here went through Infantry AIT!"
Served in Alpha 2/5 1Cav Div Airmobile 67-68
