This Sheriff, who's not running for re-election, is against issuing permits to citizens. He describes the typical permit seakers as "soft white guys". His 2nd-in-command is running for his office.
Notice that he suggests concealment.

I personally know the Sheriff you speak of and he was never "against issuing permits to citizens". He tried to make a joke about the typical permit applicant in his county and took a lot of heat for it (as he probably should have as it was a piss poor joke). Don and I regularly had lunch or breakfast together. I thought he was a great Sheriff. You should have taken the time to get to know him beyond what you read online about him, or misunderstanding his "soft white guys" comment.
