Default New guy checking in and saying hello

Hi, just joined this forum and wanted to check in and say hello. I took my CCW class a couple weeks ago here in the St. Louis, Missouri area a Sovereign Arms. Good class.

Put in my application the following Monday, now just waiting for the paperwork to come through, so I can go pick up my endorsement then take it to the driver's license bureau for my CCW ID.

Seems kind of silly not simply to get it in the mail, instead of having to go, once more, to the police headquarters, but...whatever.

Welcome new guy. :) I've passed through your city twice. Once on my way to Ft. Leonard Wood, back in 1991. And once on my way out after 9 weeks.

As for trolling (speaking for myself) - I'm not bothered so much by repeat threads. It's certain types of threads, usually made to provoke an argument:

"Is it legal to ____ ?"
Bad idea to get legal advice from a forum. Research the law in your state or get an attorney to advise you.

"What if (insert hopeless hypothetical 'they got the drop on me' scenario here)?"
In most of the troll-cooked scenarios, the main character is pretty well screwed unless he can shoot like Billy the Kid.

"This is why (insert favorite gun here) is the BEST!"
Glad you like your gun. Want a cookie?

"This is why (insert favorite famous school or instructor here) is the BEST!"
You paid too much. Glad you liked your instructor/school. Want a cookie?

"I can shoot a ____ group at _____ yards in _____ seconds with my ____."
And you're modest too. Just how many cookies do you want?

The list goes on. You get the idea. :)

But anyway...welcome once again. There are a lot of very knowledgeable folks here. It's a great resource. :)

Hello Amsdorf...welcome to this group...Our youngest son took his CCW also with Sovereign Arms. Not a recommendation but through a gun show. He did not like it but went through it just so he can get his permit. I wouldn't know the difference between them and the place where my hubby and other kids took theirs as we took ours near Jeff city. The forums here can be heated but just grin and bear it or enjoy the view from behind your keyboard. It can be very entertaining to say the least.

The class at Sovereign Arms was fine for me, there's only so much they can cover in a ten hour class, but I took as much as I could out of it...have to compliment Matt on his keen emphasis on safety...and he was very blunt about the laws and had a real no-nonsense approach to the whole subject.

I came away realizing how much I didn't know and how much I have to learn.

As for grumpy old guys, I'll be fifty next month and I think I'm getting there myself.

    :)

    Welcome from Jefferson City.
Some good advice has been given here already, but I'll add this...
CCW only satisfies the legal requirements to apply for your CCW; if you truly plan to carry daily in orderv to protect yourself and family get some more training.
