Don't know. Perhaps they would be o.k. I am just not a big fan of putting a lot of stuff on a shotgun that would make it heavier and more cumbersome. Just kind of like keeping it light and compact.

Yeah i hear you. People are putting the TLR-1 and 2 (handgun lights) on their shotguns. I like the look of that. it's small yet has a huge bang for your buck.

The equipment on your home defense shotgun probably should reflect what kind of setup you have in your home and how aggressive you want to be in defending it. I don't have anyone to defend but myself, and this house isn't even mine. If someone breaks in, I'm going to stay in the bedroom with the shotgun pointed at the door, because I'm not interested in defending a bunch of tacky furniture and outdated appliances.

It's a different story if you have a family, though - in that case I'd say to build or modify the house to be more easily defensible. My parents designed their house with the kids' bedrooms at the end of a dead-end hall, and theirs in the middle. That way they could see us coming and going, and could see anyone else coming through, as well. With a setup like that, you never have to leave your bedroom to defend your entire family; you can hold position in the shadows and just shoot an intruder who walks by.

If the house isn't designed with security in mind to begin with, then a mounted light might be ideal.

Well we rent apartments and town houses. So they are set up the way the owners want them to be. I have a wife and two young girls to think about. If every thing goes good soon to be a new family dog to think of as well. When it comes to my family i tend to go HULK i see red and lose it NOTHING AND NO ONE HURTS THEM!! Seeing as how the Apartments are not that big i do not think i would have much time to get to them or get them out of a window. It would be grab the gun and go throw my self in the line of fire and take the fight to the attacker/attackers. Use the shotgun till it runs dry (If a gun fight should take place) then go for my knife or just go hand to hand with them. Bottom line is if they are fighting with me they can not do harm to the family. I just have to hold them up till they run away or the cops come and or they kill me. If your bleeding and feeling pain your not dead yet and are still in the fight. If they do get pass me they will run into the wife with a handgun.
